Car Show

The Historic 25th Street Car Show will be held on June 2nd, coinciding with the June First Friday Art Stroll.

The Historic 25th Street Car and Motorcycle Show presented by America First Credit Union is an open show with no categories or classes. It typically draws more than 300 vehicles. Over 30 winners are selected by sponsors, business owners, and Ogden City officials. The street is closed from Wall Avenue to Washington Boulevard beginning at 3:00 pm. The show hours are 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The street is opened to traffic after the awards ceremony that takes place at about 8:45 pm.

Come prepared to shop, dine and stroll the galleries! The show takes place in conjunction with the monthly Art Stroll. The local shops and galleries extend their hours of operation and many display their wares on the sidewalks. Participants can dine in any of the more than 15 restaurants that are located on the street. Oldies tunes are provided throughout the evening by JC Hackett.

Online registration is now closed. Onsite registration is available as early as 2 pm, day of the event, just outside Roosters Brewing (253 Historic 25th Street). Onsite registration is limited to space remaining and the cost is $10 per vehicle.

Car Show History

It started when Wasatch Rods & Customs Car Club held a Tuesday “cruise night” that involved 60 vintage cars cruising from Layton to Ogden. The vehicle owners hung out and ate in the restaurants. It was the best-attended cruise night the club had ever hosted. Everyone loved the destination! What a great scene – old cars parked in front of even older buildings! Everyone on the street loved the extra business!

A group of friends decided to capitalize on the success of the cruise night and created the Historic 25th Street Car and Motorcycle Show. Because the show takes place on the asphalt, it was decided to hold an evening show to avoid the heat. The organizers also agreed that the show would be done to benefit the businesses and that it would last only 4 hours on a Friday night. That quickly became a recipe for success! The car show date is the busiest day of the year for the local restaurants, surpassing Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving and Easter!

Proceeds from the show benefit the local homeless shelter, Lantern House, and also help the Historic 25th Street Business Association to produce additional community events. Business participation is paramount to the success of the show. 30 or more business owners volunteer each year to select winners and provide their prizes. Ogden City officials and show sponsors also select winning entries.

The show has grown to the point that the side streets have to be closed to traffic to accommodate the number of vehicles. The businesses stay open late and outside vendors are not allowed so that the economic impact is felt by the entrepreneurs who have worked so hard to create the distinctive business district.

Thank you to the founders of the show: Steve & Carolyn Brierley, Alan & Marilyn Clark, Bob & Weezie Eames, Darrell & Donna Kersey, Mike & Joan Tuttle, Joe & Janice Christiansen.
