Polar Bear Swim and Human Dog Sled Racing, Winterfest 2010In Ogden, the annual Winterfest held many events. One of the most chilling events would have been the Polar Bear Swim. Many contestants volunteered to jump into freezing water at the Lar and Far Pool. Each contestant had to get every hair on there head wet to win the prize of an offical Winterfest mug filled with hot chocolate. Suprisingly many people entered the event, from small children to mature adults. Hope to see you next year future Polar Bears!
Not only were contestants at the Polar Bear swim, there were also people entered in the Human Dog Sled Race. Competitors each were hooked to a real dog sled and battled for the best time. The grand prize for this contest was 600 dollars! If you didn't have the strength to out run the best dogs, there was a costume contest as well. Costumes ranged from the queen of hearts to a family of potatoes, there were many great costumes. This was an event that was exciting for the contestants as well as watching from the side lines.

Winterfest Rail Jam and Skijoring EventsOn Friday and Saturday February 12th & 13th, Ogden held its annual Winterfest. Winterfest had a great variety of events throughout the weekend. The main event on Friday was the Winterfest Rail Jam. There was a huge crowd gathered around the rails watching and enjoying the event. Anyone who wanted to participate in the rail jam just needed to jump in. Hopefully we can see you at Ogden’s next annual Winterfest!
Saturday held the Ski Joring event. What is skijoring you ask? Well skijoring involves a horse and a brave skier who holds onto a 10 foot rope for their lives. There were tons of crazy skiers who tried different tricks like flips and spins on the three different jumps throughout the course. Participants just had to be brave enough to go on such a ride. See you at Ogden's next annual Winterfest!
