Small Business Saturday

The Saturday after Thanksgiving is a big day in Ogden! Part of a national movement to “shop small” Historic 25th Street partakes in Small Business Saturday. Our retailers are open regular business hours with most stores opening at 11 am. It’s a fun and festive time on the street, with many serving hot cider or holiday treats. It’s the real kick off to the holiday season!

Also on that Saturday, November 28th, is the annual Santa Run which takes place on Washington Blvd, starting at 4:30 pm. All runners are given a Santa suit and the aid stations will, of course, be serving up milk and cookies. The 5k ends just in time to clear the course and prepare the route for the Electric Light Parade.

The Holiday Electric Light Parade also comes down Washington Blvd from 22nd to 27th Street. The parade begins at 5:30 pm and the final float brings Santa into Christmas Village for the official lighting of the town. Christmas Village remains lit and open to the public through the end of the year, complete with Santa photos, train rides, and live entertainment.

At approximately 6:30 pm on November 28th the official Christmas Village opening gala and fireworks show will take place at the amphitheater. This year’s Village and Parade theme is “O Christmas Tree” and will continue the tradition of being the kick-off to a month-long celebration at Municipal Gardens. The Christmas Village Opening Gala will feature entertainment, parade awards and a firework show. Santa arrives in the parade and will make his way to the amphitheater stage in the heart of Christmas Village and turn on the lights of Christmas Village.

There will also be live entertainment in the Amphitheater Tuesday thru Friday from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm.

During the holiday season many stores are open for extended retail hours. Check retailers for specifics. Also look for a copy of the December Utah Stories which features a Shop Local Gift Guide for Historic 25th Street. Utah Stories is available at local retailers, coffee shops and supermarkets.
